Photography and Words Idris M.
The most noteworthy feature in these carefully chosen series of Idriss’ photography series of Mauritius is the composition. The careful placement of the elements in the photograph such as the Pirogues (wooden boats built by the mauritian carpenters) and the bird’s eye view of Mauritius, reveals the beauty and tranquility of the island. The lighthouse placed at the edge, is a beacon to showcase that the photographer’s secret to a successful composition is simplicity. Idriss’ photography series clearly defines what Mark Twain once wrote:
‘Mauritius was made first and then heaven, heaven being copied after Mauritius’.
